SUSAN J. SMITH, CONTRACTING OFFICER, (202) 324-5724. The Federal
Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has a requirement for the purchase of one
(1) three-dimensional laser digitizing scanning system with the
following minimum salient characteristics: (a) A digitizer capable of
digitizing an object of at least 24'' x 24'' x 24''; a minimum accuracy
of +/-.005 inches; 4 axes of positioning - x, y, z and rotation of
part; capable of digitizing parts weighing up to 30 pounds; a
digitizing speed of at least 50 points per second; (b) a digitizer
controller consisting of a 386/25-based personal computer or better,
with a minimum of 130 MB hard drive and 14'' color monitor; network
communication hardware, THICKNET ETHERNET, for exporting data files to
an engineering workstation, Silicon Graphics Iris, for processing and
modification of digitized image; shall permit manual and automatic
scanning of operator-defined scanning regions; shall include operator
input parameters (i.e., scan line patterns, direction, point density,
and surface feature search tolerances) which can be verified prior to
each scan; a system footprint (including travel table) not to exceed
100 inches in width by 90 inches in depth by 130 inches in height; and
(c) software for manipulation of the digitizer- produced data files,
which is capable of being run on a Silicon Graphics Iris or SUN SPARC
workstation (not provided under this contract) and be provided on 1/4
inch tape data cartridge (DC6150 media or equivalent); and capable of
outputting directly to a Stereo Lithography system. Contractor shall
provide installation, manuals (operation and maintenance), and training
as a part of this requirement. Delivery and installation will be F.O.B.
Destination to Quantico, Virginia, within 60 days of contract award.
