The Navy is seeking qualified sources willing to provide for purchase
a used container crane for use at Port Hadlock, WA. The crane shall be
a rail-mounted, traveling gantry type crane with a hinged boom, single
trolley, and designed for ''through-leg'' container handling at each
side of the gantry. The waterside of the crane shall be equipped with
a hinged boom that may be raised or lowered to provide clearance for
the ship's superstructure. The crane shall be rated 40-Long Tons. It
shall be either diesel-electric or shore powered. The crane must be
suitable for 50 foot gauge track. It shall be heavy duty, capable of
high speeds, continuous duty, precise control, and safe operation.
Potential sources should submit descriptive literature (list
capabilities of crane, age (years and hours of operation), condition,
manufacturer, previous overhauls, if any, approximate cost and warranty
information) not later than 30 April 1995. This is not a Request For
Proposal; but is a request for information only. The Navy Crane Center
will not pay or otherwise reimburse respondents for the information
submitted. Oral communications are not acceptable and will not be
