COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 3,1995 PSA#1316Hughes Technical Services Company, CTC Program Office, 901A Grier Dr.,
Las Vegas, NV 89119 69 -- SMOKE GENERATOR FOR TRAINING ENVIRONMENT Due 043095. Contact,
Gregory Cordes, 702/361-7106. SEEKING POTENTIAL SOURCES FOR A MOBILE
SMOKE GENERATING SYSTEM FOR AN ARMY TRAINING ENVIRONMENT, POC Gregory
J. Cordes, Buyer, Hughes Technical Services Company under Contract
N61339-94-C0027; Combat Training Center Instrumentation Systems. Hughes
Technical Services is seeking potential sources for a system to replace
the U.S. Army M157 Smoke Generator currently in use in a training
environment. The M157 (NSN 1040-01-293-5496) is a mobile system
attached to an U.S. Army Humvee vehicle that produces Visual and Near
Infrared smoke using smoke generator fog oil number 2 (SGF2) with an
on-board duration of 48-96 minutes. The training application to which
a smoke generator is being contemplated requires generation of smoke
equivalent to that generated by a 155mm artillery shell exploded as an
air burst. Minimum requirements for this capability include a mobile
system that can travel at slow speeds over rough terrain (Max. 10
degree slope.) and will generate smoke continuously over a 1 hour
period of time. Fuel must be of a type that is environmentally safe in
case of spillage/leakage and is a minimal fire hazard. The system must
have minimum maintenance capabilities (Compartmentalized module change
out for field repair.) Desired capabilities include the ability to
change the color and type of smoke with minimum effort while deployed
on the training battlefield. Standard commercial equipment is desired
and multiple alternatives will be encouraged. This announcement does
not guarantee that a Request for Proposal will be issued to purchase
this system. Potential offers should submit technical data (brochures,
literature, specifications, et) sufficient enough to enable Hughes
Technical Services CO and the Government to fully evaluate the product
and technology involved. All correspondence should be mailed to Hughes
Technical Services Company, CTC Program Office, Attn: Gregory J.
Cordes, 901A Grier Dr, Las Vegas, Nevada 89119 by 30 April 1995. Any
technical questions may be addressed to Mr. Larry Ellis, (702)
