58 -- AWACS THEATER MISSILE DEFENSE SYSTEM POC Lt. Colonel James H. McTighe, ESC/AWK, 617-377-5642. The United States Air Force Electronic Systems Center (ESC) intends to issue a sole source contract to the Boeing Company, Boeing Defense and Space Group, Aerospace and Electronics Division, Seattle, WA to serve as the prime contractor and system integrator for the AWACS Extended Airborne Global Launch Evaluator (EAGLE) program (reference CBD announcement issue number PSA-1235, dated Monday, 5 December 1995). Authorization to do so is contained in 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). The purpose of this program is to provide a theater ballistic missile (TBM) detection and tracking capability on the AWACS test aircraft, TS-3, by the third quarter of FY 98. The Prime Contractor will procure and integrate the appropriate subsystems into an EAGLE system, integrate and test the EAGLE system on the AWACS test aircraft (TS-3), and interleave EAGLE/TS-3 range testing against appropriate theater air defense targets with other high priority AWACS testing. The contract structure provides for the exercise of three options at decision points reached during the expected 36 months of the program's development and testing life.
