COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 5,1995 PSA#1318Office of Contracting, Administration Support Center East, Bldg 2001,
Attn: ASCE-PPC, New Cumberland, PA 17070-5001 70 -- PROGRAM SOFTWARE PACKAGE FOR ENHANCEMENTS OF AUTOMATED GUIDED
VEHICLE SYSTEM Sol SP3100-95-R-0015. Due 052595. Contact Point, Richard
Woodworth, 717/770-5213, Contracting Officer, RC Souto 717/770-6206.
Solicitation is being made for the purposes of procuring a software
program in accordance with the following ``SCOPE OF WORK'': 1. This
unit of work identifies the source code of the various systems, assigns
transactions to AGVs en route to parking, automatically assigns AGVs
from ``slow'' ares to ``busy'' areas, makes the distance tables soft
and down-loadable, and allows the AGV to ``learn'' the actual
distances. (A) Identifying the proper source code for the LAC, HD and
CB systems is necessry to make enhancements. Without the proper source
code and makefiles, enhancements might introduce new problems, or
might not be successful. (B) Assigning a pending Pickup and Delivery
Transaction to an AGV en route to Parking results in an overall
increase in productivity. Currently, a pending transaction is assigned
only after the AGV arrives in Parking. This enhancement will address
this situation. (C) Assigning idle AGVs from one area to a busy area
results in an overall increase in efficiency. The system divides the
warehouse into areas; an AGV is assigned to an area. Currently, if an
area has more AGVs that transactions, idle AGBs are sent to parking.
This enhancement aims to correct this problem. (D) Soft and
downloadable distance tales mean that physical changes in the warehouse
can be implemented without having to install new EPROMs in every AGV.
Furthermore, AGVs can have different wheel diameters without causing
the system-wide problems currently being experienced. The soft tables
are stored in AGV RAM rather than EPROM and are downloaded from the
system. (E) Another enhancement adds a ``learn'' mode to the AGVs. In
learn mode, and AGV records the distance between floor tags and
frequency crossings. The newly recorded distance table is then uploaded
to the system. This eliminates the need to measure and calculate
distances manually (for example, such a recalculation is necessary
should smaller or larger AGV wheels be used). 2. All work shall be
performed and tested with little or no impact to the government's
mission. All responsible sources with the ability to provide a program
able to satisfy the government's requirement, are invited to submit a
proposal which will receive the consideration of this agency. All
interested parties may request a copy of the solicitation document by
contacting the above listed addressee either via mail or fax
(717-770-5689). Please include both the solicitation number and
contract specialist's name with your request. (090) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0456 19950404\70-0003.SOL)
