Stop G1-64, Richland, Washington 99352 99 -- FABRICATION OF INTERIM STORAGE CASKS (ISC) DUE 042195. Contact

will fabricate and test approximately forty-five top loading, stainless
steel lined, concrete and steel shielded, ventilated Interim Storage
Casks (ISC) per buyer provided design drawings and fabrication
specifications. The ISCs are to be used for above ground, dry, interim
storage of Fast Flux Test Facility spent reactor fuel assemblies for
a period of 50 years. Each ISC has an internal cavity diameter of 21
inches and a length of 147 inches. The cask weight, including the 5,000
pound payload, is approximately 115,000 pounds. Outside dimensions of
the ISC are 85 inches in diameter and 182 inches in height. The ISC is
designed, and shall be fabricated, to meet Title 10, Code of Federal
Regulations, Part 72 (10CFR72), ``Licensing Requirements for the
Independent Storage of Spent Nuclear Fuel and High-Level Radioactive
Waste'', without licensing. The seller must have an established QA
program and be capable of performing work in accordance with the
following requirements: 10CFR71 ``Packaging and Transportation of
Radioactive Material'' Subpart H or 10CFR72 Subpart G, ASME Code
Section III Subsection NC-4000 (except that no code stamp is required),
ACI-349 Code Requirements for Nuclear Safety Related Concrete
Structures, ACI-301 Specification for Structural Concrete for
Buildings, and ACI-304 Specification for Measuring, Mixing,
Transporting, and Placing Concrete. All materials used in construction
of the ISC shall be provided by the seller, certified to the
specifications, and controlled. Specific parameters of the ISC design
that are important to safety are the containment boundary, shield
plate, and reinforcing steel material strengths, the containment
boundary, shield plate, and concrete wall thicknesses, and the concrete
density and compressive strength. The seller shall provide, for buyer
approval, a detailed fabrication plan including test procedures to
demonstrate and document leak tightness, structural capability,
pressure integrity, shielding adequacy, and lifting attachment strength
of each completed cask. Any handling equipment or hardware required for
fabrication, testing, and shipping of the casks will be provided by the
seller. An order of approximately 45 casks is to be furnished over a 2
year period with delivery of the first cask within 4 months of initial
order receipt. Organization must have demonstrated experience and
capabilities in the areas described above. Interested organizations
must submit detailed and concise information demonstrating their
ability to meet all the requirements as specified in this notice.
