Nursing services for patients with Hansen's Disease in the skilled care unit of the infirmary at the Gillis W Long Hansen's Disease Center, Carville, LA. The period of performance will be for 12 months with two twelve month options. The staff shall consist of 1 RN, 1 LPN and 3 or 4 CNAs per hour. Services shall be performed in accordance with the physician's direction as noted in the charts of patients, Nurses Practice Act of Louisiana, established policies and procedures of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Gillis W Long Hansen's Disease Center and the Nursing Department. The patients with Hansen's Disease require skilled nursing care for both long term and short term. Nursing staff may be required to provide emergency assistance on site in the cottage or outpatient living area. Government employed RN will be available on the ambulatory floor as a resource person for consultation as may be needed and to acquire pharmaceuticals. The contract supervisory nurse will be responsible for the implementation of the physician orders and provision of care given by the contract staff under his/her supervision during the shift(s). All equipment and supplies required by these services (except uniforms and personal items) are provided by the government. The government will provide sufficient orientation prior to commencement of contract. The RFP will be issued o/a Apr 17, 1995. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered.
