66 -- MOTORIZED SWIVEL AND GIMBAL MOTION SYSTEM SOL RFO5-02723/069 POC Sandy Shin Contract Specialist, 301-286-2634, Celeste M. Dalton, Contracting Officer. Pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), NASA/GSFC intends to issue RFO5-02723/069 on a sole source basis to Panametrics for a motorized swivel and gimbal motion system that is fully compatible with an existing Panametrics Multiscan Ultrasonic Inspection System. Compatibility requirements include the interfacing of the mechanical assemblies and cables with the system's search tube configuration and cable configuration; as well as the systems interface with the Multiscan motion control and data acquisition software. The Panametrics swivel system shall have a 400 degree range of motion, while the gimbal shall have a plus or minus 135 degree range of motion. Both the swivel and gimbal shall also have a 20 degrees per second maximum speed and a .01 degree readout and control resolution. The motor driver shall receive step/direction from the position controller. The system shall also include an optical encoder used for position feedback. The swivel and gimbal motions shall be capable of being controlled manually using the rack mounted position controllers. This effort will also require a rebuild of the system software to control swivel and gimbal motions via the system software. Panametrics is the only company capable of providing the hardware and software necessary for a swivel and gimbal motion system that is fully compatible with the Government's current Panametrics Multiscan Ultrasonic Inspection System.
