70 -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION FOR UNIX DESKTOP AND DESKSIDE WORKSTATIONS, PERIPHERALS, AND OPERATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE Contact Gerald Moentmann, (202) 373-2839, Program Manager; James K. The Virginia Contracting Activity, on behalf of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is issuing this Request for Information synopsis for the purpose of assessing the availability of commercial UNIX desktop and deskside workstations, peripherals, and operating system software to develop a Commercial Off-the-Shelf workstation solicitation to meet worldwide intelligence requirements. DIA is seeking information on state-of-the-art platforms capable of executing the latest generation of UNIX software. The platforms will be used in networked CSE, X-terminal, and stand-alone modes. Platforms and options must be capable of supporting intelligence and intelligence related functions such as: high resolution image scanning/capture, storage and processing; graphical design; software development; and corporate level resource management applications. The equipment must be compatible with the DIA LAN structure and support the objectives of the DIA information systems architecture. The Agency ADP and local area network (LAN) structure consists of AST, Compaq, DEC, SUN, and Zenith workstations and File/Application servers providing Netware, SunOS, or ULTRIX connectivity. Request information on availability of units, or release date to the community. The information is required by 1 May 1995. Solicitation packages are not provided. This is not a request for proposal. Interested vendors who have equipment which meets the above criteria should put together a information package about that equipment to include a capability statement. The government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this Request for Information or to otherwise pay for the information solicited.
