Lisa Romney 202/767-8099 The Washington Area Contracting Center intends to procure art appraisal services for HQ USAF/HOI. The Air Force possesses a large collection of original artwork in the form of approximately 7,500 paintings. The subjects of these artworks are primarily related to military aviation. In order to comply with applicable accounting regulations it is necessary to have each piece in the collection appraised at replacement or fair-market value. The Air Force intends to issue a one-year fixed-price contract with two one-year options as a vehicle to acquire this service. The entire collection has been photographed and will be made available to the appraiser on slides. It is anticipated that the majority of the artworks may be appraised from this source, which should allow most work to be done at a location of the appraiser's choosing. For items of greater interest or value, it may be determined feasible to have the appraiser make a physical inspection at the work's actual location. Succesful offerors will be required to have at least ten years experience in appraisal of military or related art, hold certification from a broadly accepted appraiser's certifying organization and a documented record of professional ability.
