COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 6,1995 PSA#1319Electronic Systems Center, Operational Contracting Division, Services
and Repairs Branch, PKOP, Hanscom AFB, MA 01731-1806 J -- MAINTENANCE AND UPGRADE SERVICES FOR THE GRAVITY GRADIOMETER
SURVEY SYSTEM (GGSS) SOL F19650-95-R0080 DUE 060195 POC TSgt James C.
Bradley, Contracting Specialist, 617-377-3362, FAX 617-377-4324;
Glendon A. Hatton, Contracting Officer, 617-377-. Sources are sought
for services to repair, refurbish, and maintain the Gravity Gradiometer
Survey System (GGSS). The GGSS is a unique, one-of-a-kind, mobile
gravity surveying system developed for the Defense Mapping Agency and
the Air Force Phillips Laboratory by Bell Aerospace Textron Corporation
to perform air and ground surveys. The GGSS has remained largely unused
for the last five years. The intent of this contract is to support a
minimal overhaul of the GGSS and to provide support and post-mission
processing for subsequent ground survey operations. The overhaul shall
include but is not limited to: replacement of the Uninterruptible
Power Supply (UPS), removal of the current single antenna GPS receiver
and replacement with an Ashtech 4 antenna, 3DF GPS Attitude Control
Unit (ACU) or equivalent, integration of the output data from the
antenna and the ACU into the GGSS data reduction process, a mechancial
tune-up including but not limited to the engine, safety equipment, and
overall inspection of the vehicle to ensure roadworthiness, removal and
cleaning of the fuel tanks, cleaning and purging of the fuel lines,
replacement of the two existing air conditioning units, removal of the
Air Force Gravity Gradient Instruments (GGIs) and replacement with
Government Supplied Advanced Development Model GGIs (security
clearances will be required to work with the GGIs and for all
subsequent data processing), modification of the GGSS Isolation
Platform to improve the performance of ground operations by increasing
damping and moving the isolator resonance frequency away from that of
the vehicle suspension. In addition, the contract will require the
contractor to perform testing and calibration to assure proper
functionality of the GGSS to include but not limited to: GGSS System
verification through actual data collection and mission post processing
and analysis, self gradient calibrations of the system using data
collected at a number of azimuth, pitch angle, and roll angle
combinations. Road tests of the GGSS will be performed to demonstrate
full tensor gradient operation. All post-processed full tensor gradient
and location data will be provided to the Air Force, in a mutually
agreed digital form following each road test and survey. The
approximate issue/response date will be 1 Jun 95. No telephone
requests. Only written or faxed requests received directly from the
requestor are acceptable. See Numbered Note(s): 22. (0094) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0076 19950405\J-0015.SOL)
