Z -- PRE-SOL FOR DEMOLISH/CONSTRUCT NEW BUZZARDS BAY TOWER, MA SOL PSNWW-4510 DUE 060795 POC Attn: Frank Pfeiffer PRESOLICITATION NOTICE: Provide all labor, material, equipment, transportation and supervision for the demolition of the existing Buzzards Bay Light Tower and constructing a new navigational light structure. The old tower will be demolished down to the mudline and disposed of, primarily as an artificial reef off of Long Island, NY. The new tower will be a new 3-pile steel tower in 40 feet of water, with a focal height of 67 feet above Mean Low Water. Estimated cost is between $ 1 million and $5 million. Plans and specs issue on or about May 8, 1995. A NON-REFUNDABLE FEE IN THE AMOUNT OF $20.00 WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE BID PACKAGE. Requests will be honored until supply is exhausted. This procurement is open to large and small businesses. Bid opening will be on or about 6/7/95 at place of issue. INFORMATION PERTAINING TO MINORITY, WOMEN-OWNED AND DISADVANTAGED ENTERPRISES: The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, payment, and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
