J -- CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE SEWAGE SYSTEM FOR THE POLAR CLASS ICEBREAKERS SOL DTCG85-95-B-625Y64 DUE 050895 POC Sharon D. Hunter, Contracting Officer (510) 437-3996. Contractor shall provide a new sewage system which utilizes a vacuum generating power ejector to create and maintain vacuum in the sewage collection piping in conjunction with a collection tank. The tank shall be maintained under atmospheric pressure. The system shall be able to generate a vacuum by recirculating the contained sewage through the ejector by means of a recirculation pump. When the system is not in operation, it will maintain pressure by activating a check valve located in the ejector. The vacuum collection piping shall be designed to have normal operating vacuum of 18 inches mercury (Hg) and a minimum of 12 Hg. Major components shall consist of the following items: Sewage ejector assemblies, sewage ejector pump assemblies, vacuum type waters closets (toilets), vacuum interface valves, and motor controllers. Supporting components are valves, pressure/vacuum gauges, level switches, vacuum switches, electrical control panel and piping. The solicitation will be issued on or about 24 April 1995; the bid opening date is approximately 24 May 1995.
