Russell, (202) 482-1967 The Department of Commerce intends to negotiate with the Sheraton Washington Hotel, 2660 Woodly Rd., Washington, DC 20008, on a sole source basis for the annual MEDWEEK conference being held in Washington DC. The base period is during the week of September 24-27, 1995, and there will be 2 option periods. The facilities shall accomodate at a minimum 400 sleeping rooms a night, facilities to include a general meeting room to hold 750 people theate style with a head table and dias, a seperate room to accommodate lucheon/dinner for 1000 in rounds of 10, seperate exhibition space to accommodate at least 250 formal 8'X10' booths, 4 seperate rooms to be used as office space, 2 seperate meeting rooms (50-65 theatre, w/head table and dias), 8 seperate meeting rooms (100-150 theatre, w/head table). In addition to the space listed above, 2 holding rooms to accomodate 25 people will be required. Banquet services include 2 receptions (approximately 500 people), 1 awards gala dinner (approx. 850 people), 3 luncheons (approx. 1000 people) and 2 breakfasts (approx. 600 people). Interested firms have 15 days from publication date to submit qualifications/capabilities in the areas mentioned above. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used for the purpose of determining whether or not to use a sole-source procurement. Responses received after 15 days or without the required information will be considered non-responsive and will not be considered. If no affirmative responses are received with 15 days from publication of this notice, the Contracting Officer will proceed with the acquisition to the Sheraton Washington.
