51 -- CHEST, ALUMINUM UTILITY SOL N00164-95-R-0131 DUE 052695 POC Contact - Ms. Terry Davis, 812-854-3704, telefax 812-854- 3465 or Mr. Doug McDaniel, Contracting Officer The Navy requires 235 each aluminum utility chests, Dee Zee Part No. 84, Brand Name or Equal, in accordance with NAVSURFWARCENDIV Crane salient characteristics. These chests shall be 60 inches in length (nominal) x 19 inches in width (nominal) x 18.5 inches (maximum) in height. The chests shall be constructed of .090 inches (minimum) thick rigid aluminum tread plate, alloy no. 3003. The chests shall be unfinished, i.e., not primed, painted or treated with ''Britegard.'' Corrosive resistant material shall be utilized to the maximum extent practicable for all hardware that mounts to the exterior of the chests. A horizontal sliding tray, with nominal dimensions of 15 inches wide x 18 inches long x 31/2 inches high, shall be provided for storage of small objects while allowing access to main storage area. Two D-ring style exterior handles shall be provided; handles and attaching hardware shall have the capability to withstand weight of chest and up to 200 pounds of contents without any permanent deformation to the chest and/or handles. Minimum width inside handles shall be 3.375 inches. Weather stripping and/or gasket material for the chest lid shall be provided; the material shall be cut to fit chest length requirements but shall not be installed. Contractor shall specify required adhesive for installation of material to chest. Recessed paddle handle style latches, with minimum width of 31/2 inches and length of 4 inches, and associated hardware, including key, shall be provided and installed on chests. Twin gas cylinders and associated hardware shall be provided and installed; these cylinders shall be standard industrial size and have the capacity to automatically lift the lid when latch is pulled and hold the lid in an open position. A Firm-Fixed Price Supply contract is anticipated for this procurement. A minimum of 120 chests are to be delivered FOB destination within 30 days after contract award with remaining chests to be delivered within 60 days after contract award. A 10% evaluation preference for small disadvantaged business concerns will apply. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by this agency. (0096)
