Division, Ship Systems Engineering Station, is seeking expressions of
interest and general information from manufacturers regarding fiber
optic sensors that are currently being used in industrial applications.
The purpose of this investigation is to determine the availability of
commercially developed fiber optic sensors capable of measuring wear
particles in lubricating oils or hydraulic fluids. Information on fiber
optic sensors for other oil analysis applications is also welcome. This
is not a request for proposal and does not commit the government to the
award of a contract. Any comments provided may/may not be included in
a formal solicitation. The Government will not pay for any information
received in response to this request nor will the Government
compensate any respondent for any costs incurred in developing the
information provided to the Government. Interested manufacturers should
