The work includes demolition, extensive sitework, construction of earthen levees and concrete flood walls with ancillary equipment and support structures. Foundations for the flood wall will consist of reinforced concrete diaphragm walls placed by the slurry trench method and monolithic concrete structures stabilized by rock anchors. The work will also include the construction of two sets of hydraulically operated steel miter gates and three steel swing gates for railroad and vehicular traffic access. Some electrical work will be required at the miter gate structures. A PRE-BID CONFERENCE AND SITE VISIT will be conducted at the site, (3920 Douglasdale Road, Richmond, VA), on Thursday, May 18, 1995, at 10:00 A.M. Magnitude of the project is estimated between $5 million and $10 million. Duration of the project is 914 days.
