70 -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATON (RFI), GENERAL PURPOSE ADP EQUIPMENT, RFI W705713 Contact, Harold L. Anderson, N2-54, (509) 376-0637. Westinghouse Hanford Company (WHC), the Management and Operating Contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy, Richland Operations Office, Richland, Washington, is requesting information from companies capable of migration of three character-based databases from a existing antiquated Honeywell database management system acquired in 1981. The new system design will be an application server platform supplied by the vendor consisting of hardware, operating system software, database management system software, and data retrieval software. Project must be completed prior to fiscal 1995 year end (September 30, 1995). Vendors not capable of meeting the preceding requirements need not respond. CURRENT CONFIGURATION: The Honeywell 6/43 processor executes the Ultimate (a Pick variant) operating system of Release 10, Revision 170R, a search and retrieval utility suite called AccessMaster, Version 2.4, 4-1-86, and three textual, predominantly historical, linked databases called MASTER, WDC, and ECN that occupy about 700MB of disk space total (excluding Ultimate). Hereafter, this application platform is called Honeywell/Ultimate/AccessMaster. EXISTING ENVIONMENT: 1) Hardware: Honeywell/Ultimate 6/43 processor system with Honeywell/Ultimate 4303 CPU, High Performance Processor board (5X) minimum, 512K EDAC Memory, total installed memory 1.5 MB; six 288 MB disk drives (one a spare); one 9-track tape drive, 800/1600 bpi, 75 ips; 64 activated communication ports in eight 8-port boxes, six of which provide 48 serial ports using XNS protocol and two of which provide 16 ports of TCP/IP; 600 lpm Printronix line printer. 2) Firmware: Microprogrammed with virtual memory manager, multi-user operating system, and special data management instructions. 3) System Software: Recall, BASIC, PROC, TCL languages; selectable/automatic report formatting; dynamic file/memory management; selectable levels of file/data security; input/output processors. 4) File Structure: variable length files, records, and fields; multi-values and sub-values in a field; efficient storage utilization; fast accessibility to data items per BENCHMARKS below; selectable degrees of data security; file and record size limited only by size of disk. 5) Relational Database Management: Compiled BASIC that executes TCL commands from within a program; Query language processor (Recall); exploding-sort capability; reformat files to themselves, another file, or to tape; generate a select list from attributes within an item or items in a file; procedure language processor with interactive terminal prompting. 6) Inverted Database Management: Data entry and verification routines for record files, mass change; data entry options of add, change, locate, insert, and delete; cross referencing for record id's; authority file and negative authority file maintenance routines; database audit routines for inverted files; retrieval procedures containing the following capabilities: searches for ``equal to'', ``greater than'', ``less than'', ranges, limits, and ``begins with''; Boolean operators ``AND'', ``OR'', and ``NOT''; ability to save and recover hit tables; list or sort hit tables; search display options of specific hit number, next hit, redisplay current hit, or start at beginning of hits; unlimited parenthesized searches; selected field display; ability to print search keys encountered during any type of search except ``equal to''; show record id and/or categories desired; set default search category with capability of listing searchable categories; ability to logically append text in search descriptors; universal character; linear file update messages; accept pre-stored search commads; list hits (record id's) in ascending or descending order. 7) AccessMaster is a software product of Management Analysis Company, Colorado. By means of an inverted file system, it yields rapid retrievals. The dominant reprogramming issue is to replace AccessMaster. It employs the user-command set of IDEAL (InfoDynamics Easy Access Language) consisting of ASAVE, ASCEND, CAT?, CAT=cat-name, CMDS?, D (cmds), DP (cmds), DELETE-HITS, DESCEND, HSAVE, LIMITS, LIST-HITS, NK, PK, Q, RECOVER (name), SAVE-HITS, SEE, SHOW (name(s)), UNLIMIT. 8) Application MASTER, or Main Access to Storage and Tracking of Engineering Records, is an index to documents, 500 MB, with largest of all, single file of 770,000 records in 260 MB; WDC, or Westinghouse Drawing Control system, provides status of drawings, 150 MB; ECN, or Engineering Change Notice, provides change notice status against design documents and operations procedures, 50 MB. UPGRADE REQUIREMENTS. 1) User: All application screens shall be functionally the same and visually recognizable (the existing character-based interface will suffice). Up to 50 concurrent users at a time shall be able to use the applications; one system terminal shall be directly connected to a hard-wired serial port, and all other communication shall be between host and emulated terminals over the existing Hanford LAN, preferably by TCP/IP that is compatible with Microsoft TCP/IP Stacks with Winsocks DLL, although serial LAN connections with XNS protocol can be used. 2) System Administrator: Data updates shall be able to complete within 12 hours. 3) Hardware: Replace the Honeywell computer, tape drive, and six disk drives; provide at least a disk capacity of 250% of the used space; server spare parts shall be readily obtainable for at least five years. (One may opt to use a Hanford Site standard, Pentium-based file server including greater than or equal to 100 MHz, greater than or equal to 32 MB RAM, greater than or equal to 2GB HD, ethernet adapter, NT operating system.) 4) Operating System and AccessMaster: Functionally replace per EXISTING ENVIRONMENT above. 5) Database Migration: Migrate directly as possible providing the equivalent capabilities of the Honeywell/Ultimate/AccessMaster environment. 6) DOCUMENTATION: Six complete sets covering the replacements of the following Ultimate topics: for operating system, Recall, Runoff, TCL, file structure, BASIC, Editor, Proc, Introduction, Assembler, Peripherals, Systems Support; for each vendor supplied application procedure, user manuals with detailed description of use; for computer operator; for programmer, technical manuals with details of, A) How to create additional inverted databases, B) How to add searchable and non-searchable fields, C) How to change searchable and non-searchable field formats, D) how to delete searchable and non-searchable fields, E) file structures and relationships between files, and F) Inverted file access techniques. BENCHMARKS. Target system basic response shall be deterministic and be a minimum of 1/3 the speed of the Honeywell/Ultimate/AccessMaster system. A) The system must be able to support at least 10 user accounts. B) On a database of 800,000 records with an average record size of 650 bytes, and with 46 active uses on the system must be able to do, i) an ``equal to'' search of 18,500 hits in 60 seconds or less, ii) a ``begins with'' search of 2 hits in 20 seconds or less. SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION. Must have capability to back up entire system in 2 hours maximum on a disk-to-disk copy and in 12 hours maximum on a tape save. MAINTENANCE. All equipment will be maintained by the vendor or the customer, depending on costs and abilities, with materials available from the vendor and/or a third party. During normal working hours (Monday through Friday, 0730-1600), trouble calls must receive a response within 8 hours. Repair materials must be delivered within 2 working days after call, and 9 out of 10 system failures shall be resolved within 2 working days after call. INVITATION TO EXAMINE SYSTEM. Appointments can be made for a WHC and/or BCSR contact to escort a vendor representative on-site to examine the details of the Honeywell/Ultimate/AccessMaster system, its three applications, and its current and potential Hanford LAN interfaces. A supplemental information package is also available to all interested vendors upon request and can be obtained by submitting your request via PHONE (509-376-0637) or FAX (509-376-4920) to the contact listed at the bottom of this synopsis.
