Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), National Institutes
ofHealth (NIH), is soliciting proposals from qualified small
disadvantaged business (8(a)) concernshaving the capability to provide
literature search and summary support for the EnvironmentalToxicology
Program (ETP). The major objective of this project is the development
of pertinentinformation and data on chemicals and classes of chemicals
nominated to the NationalToxicology Program (NTP) for various types of
toxicological testing, and on chemicals and theirstructural analogs at
the conclusion of testing by the NTP. The NIEHS Chemical
SelectionOffice supports the NTP by providing the toxicological
summaries for evaluation and selectionof chemicals. The contractor
shall conduct literature searches and prepare toxicologicalsummaries.
This project will also aid the NTP in its efforts by collecting the
informationavailable on the toxic effects of chemicals and their
metabolites, and structurally relatedchemicals. This information, along
with the data generated by the various NTP testing programsis also used
in the preparation of technical reports. The project consists of two
tasks: Task 1 willprovide technical support for the evaluation of
chemicals under consideration for NTPtoxicological testing by preparing
literature searches and detailed toxicological summaries onchemicals or
chemical classes being considered by the NTP for toxicological testing.
It isanticipated that approximately 90 toxicological summaries will be
required for the three-yearperformance period of the contract
(approximately 30 per year). If the two optional years areexercised, an
additional 30 toxicological summaries per year would be needed. Task 2
requiresthe contractor to perform literature searches to collect and
summarize information and data onspecial topics, as defined by the
Project Officer. One award is anticipated. The Governmentestimates that
the contract will require approximately 1,860 professional-person
hours, 1,860technical-person hours, 1,292 clerical-person hours, and
330 computer-support-person hours foreach year of the contract, for a
total of 5,432 hours. Requests must reference RFP No. NIH-ES-95-27 and
must be directed to the office listed above. Numbered Note 4 applies
