laboratory chemical padders and thermosol ranges sought. The U.S. Army
Natick RD&E Center (Natick) is searching for INFORMATION ONLY from
manufacturers or dealers interested in providing a laboratory chemical
padder/range, incorporated in one unit, which is capable of meeting
all the following criteria: (1) The equipment must contain all of the
necessary parts, including pad rolls and fixation chambers to allow for
the padding onto textile substrates of functional finishes or
dye/pigment colorants and fixation of these samples at appropriate
moisture and temperature conditions. (2) The padding rollers shall be
70 degrees shore hardness and be utilized in a pneumatic diaphragm type
roller weighing system with a maximum nip pressure of 3 ton at 5Kg/cm
air pressure. (3) The pad rolls should be equipped with a variable
pressure settings mechanism to allow for different percent (%) pickup
on the fabric. (4) The equipment shall be able to operate as one unit,
for fixation purposes, independently with moist heat (intermediate
dryer) as well as dry heat (thermosol unit). (5) For fixation purposes
the maximum temperature range need for the intermediate dryer is 150
degrees C and 250 degrees C for the thermosol dryer. (6) Areas within
the equipment in contact with water, dyes, chemicals, or fabric,
excluding hoses or drains, shall be all stainless steel, non-corrosive,
anti-rust. (7) The equipment shall have a dwell time indicator to
monitor the time the processed fabric is in the fixation chambers. (8)
Fluid capacity for the functional finishes tray or the thermosol dye
formulations tray shall be a minimum of 500 cc to a maximum of 1000 cc.
(9) The cloth moving through the range shall not require any guide
cloth and shall be non-touch and continuous. (10) The equipment shall
be capable of processing textile samples of a minimum size of 9 inches
wide and 15 inches long. Information should include available
technology, product literature and illustrations, and relevant company
