FACILITY'S LASER AND TARGET AREA BUILDING AND THE OPTICS ASSEMBLY

Randolph (510) 423-2338 The University of California, Lawrence
Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operating under Prime Contract
W-7405-ENG.48 with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), intends to
subcontract for Construction Management (CM) Services for the National
Ignition Facility (NIF). These Construction Management Services may
include, but are not limited to, supporting the University's project
team with the coordination of design and construction effort for a
Laser and Target Area Building and an Optics Assembly Building for the
National Ignition Facility. The DOE has designated LLNL at Livermore,
California as the preferred site for the NIF. However, final site
selection will be made by the DOE and validated through the National
Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process. Livermore is located
approximately 50 miles southeast of San Francisco, California. Other
sites being considered are Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquerque,
New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico,
and the Nevada Test Site approximately 60 miles north of Las Vegas,
Nevada. Selection will be limited to Construction Management
Firms/Joint Venture firms located in the continental United States and
employing a minimum combined full-time staff of 150 employees,
representing capabilities of disciplines and expertise as follows:
Integrated Facility Construction with Complex Experimental Equipment,
Large Concrete Structure Fabrication, Precise Thermal Control of Large
Open Buildings, Estimating, Vibration Isolation of Large Structures,
Managing/Directing Construction Site, Managing/Directing Construction
Subcontractors. Aggregation of disciplinary capabilities is allowed if
affiliations are through joint ventures, partnerships, consultant
agreements, corporate structure, or other formal subcontracting
agreements. This is a Request for Information only. It has been
prepared in order to solicit comments from interested Construction
Management firms. This is NOT a Request for Proposal. Written comments
regarding the scope of the Construction Management services and the
method of accomplishment will be considered prior to the issuance of
the Request for Proposal. HOW TO OBTAIN A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION: The
request for information will be available on or about April 7, 1995
and may be obtained by contacting the LLNL Contracting and Materiel
Management Department, AE/Construction Group, (510) 422-7981 or (510)
423-2338 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (PST). Written
comments regarding this request for information may be directed to Jane
Randolph at (510) 423-2338 NO LATER THAN 3:00 PM on May 4, 1995. No
further action beyond submission of written comments by interested
Construction Management firms is required or encouraged at this time.
This is not a request for proposal. Upon receipt of written comments,
