202/606-4116. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) requires the
service of a contactor to provide hardware maintenance and software
support for two Optical Mark Reader (OMR) systems operated by OPM's
Staffing Service Center in Macon, GA. The OMRs are in integral part of
OPM's processing of over 1.6 million optical mark read documents
yearly. There exists a fixed processing schedule of 32 hours, which
necessitates the need for a qualified vendor to provide quick and
efficient maintenance services for the OMR systems. In order to keep
the OMR systems in good operating condition, the Contractor shall
provide, in accordance with the terms and conditions of this contract,
software support, hardware support, maintenance labor, repair parts,
maintenance supplies, tools, test equipment, transportation, and other
related services. Maintenance service shall not include electrical
work external to the equipment, the furnishing of supplies, and adding
or removing accessories, attachments or other devices. Maintenance
service shall not include repair of damage resulting from accident,
transporation between government conditioning or humidity control or
causes other than ordinary use. Hardware maintenance and software
support for the following equipment includes the following: (2) NCS
2020 Optical Mark Readers; (2) HP2486B CPUs; (2) HP12103C 512kb memory;
(2) HP12103D 1MB memory; (2) HP12038B memory controllers; (2) HP12006A
parallelinterface; (2) HP 12082 BSC direct connect; (4) HP12009A HP IB
interface; (2) HP7857 81MB disk drive; (2) HP12076 lan interface. On
call maintenance with a response time of no more than 8 hours if both
NCS2020 OMRs are inoperative and 16 hours if only one OMR is
inoperative is a mandatory requirement to this procurement. This
equipment is located at OPM's Data Processing Center in Macon, GA. This
contract will be for one year with four 1-year option periods. At this
time OPM intends to negotiate with the National Computer Systems
Company for these services. This notice is not a request for
competitive proposals, however, firms that believe that they have the
capabilities to meet the stated requirements are encourged to submit
technical and cost information to the office listed above within 30
