The building will be located near the existing hospital. The site slopes away from the hospital to a maximum of 7-foot drop. Work will include the new building, connecting corridor, covered entrance, site work, utility connections, driveway, and replacement parking. The new building will include structural, architectural, electric, signal, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, fire sprinklers, fire alarm, etc. to meet the design intent of a good quality medical office building. The overall appearance will be consistent with the historic site. Work will conform to current codes. A 50% design drawing and specification will be provided to show design intent. The successful firm will be required to provide complete design and specification for approval by the VA Medical Center, Amarillo, Texas. Specific construction methods and dimensions may vary to allow for a quality facility at the least cost. A pre-proposal conference has been scheduled for May 22, 1995 at 2:00pm at the VA Medical Center, Education Conference Room, Amarillo, TX. The construction cost for the project is valued between $250,000 and $500,000. Solicitation packages will be available on or about April 28, 1995. Proposals are due by COB 6-01-95.
