17 -- AIRCRAFT LAUNCHING, LANDING, AND GROUND HANDLING EQUIPMENT SOL DTFA01-95-R-27434 POC POC Cynthia Valdes, Contract Specialist, (202)267-8574, Sandra Harrelson, Contracting Officer, (202)267-3669 The Federal Aviation Administration proposes to release an Invitation for Bid (IFB) by approximately 051595 for the acquisition of twenty-two (22) commercial Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) Systems with an option for up to 25 more systems. The system should consist of the following functional elements:transponder, monitor, and software. In addition, the DME systems must match or exceed the performance of the systems they replace, comply with FAA Order 9840.1 and, as a minimum, meet the following requirements: High power of 1000W with low power of 100W; solid state, modular construction; capable of direct interface to FA-9996 VOR for receiving ident trigger (slave mode); existing remote maintenance monitoring capability; output circuit protection; primary power from a nominal 120/240V, 60HZ three wire single phase AC source; automatic gain reduction; battery backup; and an omnidirectional antenna. Each system will be delivered with the contractor's operations manual and technical instruction books. The maintenance concept is for initial depot contractor repair services and spares for two (2) years with an option for one (1) year to be exercised at the time of contract award. Existing contractor training and training materials will be utilized. Delivery of the first system shall be within six (6) months after contract award. Thereafter DME systems under this procurement shall be delivered at a rate of five (5) each month until contract quantity satisfaction is achieved.
