70 -- GRAPHIC WORKSTATIONS AND SOFTWARE Sol. RFP Q2577. Due 053095. Contact D.H. Ferguson - Contract Administrator (518) 395-4549. Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) intends to purchaSe 45 graphics workstations. The workstations must inclue a native UNIX operating system and support for baseband ethernet networks using TCP/IP protocol. The workstations must have minimum CPU performance of 125 SPECint92 and 125 SPECfp92. The required workstations will include a mix of units having medium and high performance 3D graphics capabilities. Medium and high performance workstation graphics requirements for Gouaud-shaded, lighted, z-buffered meshed triangles are 150,000 and 300,000 traingles per second (minimum), repectively. Conformance with these requirements will be evlaluaged using KAPL benchmark programs. Minimum workstation hardware requirements include 128 MB memory and 2 gigabytes (GB) of disk capacity. The graphics subsystems must include a color monitor (minimum 19'', maximum 21''), 24 bit-planes for storing color information, 1 24 bit Z-buffer, double buffering, and minimum monitor screen resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels. Operating System sceurity features enhanced beyond DOD level C2 to meet requirements of DOE Order 5639.6A will be required. Evaluated options for additional workstations, graphics performance upgrades, memory upgrades and FDDI capability will be included. Also, evaluated options for the following software will be included: (1) FORTRAN compiler, (2) C compiler, (3) XII window interface, (4) OpenGL or GL graphics library, (5) a symbolic degugger, (6) performance tuning software, and (7) image processing software. The following software will not be included as an option but must be available for each workstation, (1) FIGARO graphics subroutine library, (2) MOTIF 1.2 windowing toolkit, (3) PATRAN 3 finite element modeler, (4) Pro-Engineer v13.0 conceptual design software, (5) Framemaker 4.0 desktop publishing software, and (6) Productivity Tools including spreadsheet, XY charting, and DOS emulation software. Installation of equipment required. If there are any vendors able to provide these items, inquiries shall be submitted to D.H. Ferguson within fifteen (15) days. Selected vendor will be required to obtain A DOE ``L'' clearance. (100)
