JXA-840 Scanning Electron Microscope and two JXA-8600 Electron
Microprobes were designed and built by JEOL Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan. They
are operated by the Air Force Technical Applications Center, Technical
Operations Division, McClellan Central Laboratory. The systems consist
of a main consoles consist of diffusion pumps, ion pump, low power
optical and high power optical microscope, COHU solid state color
camera and SONY Trinitron monitor, electron column and electron gun,
electron optical system, LSS and GS stages, SEI and BSE detectors,
Edward's vacuum gauge, vacuum control panel, ADSXCE X-ray spectometers,
Xenon detectors, P-10 gas flow detectors, PET crystals, LIF crystals,
STE crystals, LDE-1 crystals, NORAN Instruments's programmable
automation controllers, spectum X-ray preamplifiers and external column
control. The control and display system consist of the following
modules: Display, Image Selector, BEI, BEI-H, Beam Stabilizer, Scan
Rotation and Tilting Correct, Dual Zoom, PCD, TV Scanning, and VCA. It
