Code B32. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD),
Code B32, has a requirement for information pertaining to
commercial-off-the shelf hardware and software computer resources.
NSWCDD is hosting this information request on behalf of the Naval Sea
Systems Command, SEA 91W5, Computer Open Systems Implementation Program
(COSIP), which is chartered to acquire and evaluate commercial computer
resources and open system architectures for use in mission critical
combat applications. Currently, NSWCDD has requirements for a wide
spectrum of commercial hardware and software computer resources
including processors\co-processors, memory, storage devices, VMEbus
extenders, serial interfaces, NTDS interfaces, 1553 data bus
interfaces, VMEbus bridge cards, power supplies, graphics adaptors,
displays, printers, keyboards, category select panels, radar scan
converters, enclosures\cabinets, backplanes\Open System Architecture
Bus Units (OSABU), and base computers (mainframes, workstations, PC,
etc.). It is anticipated that candidate hardware and software resources
will be used for landbased facility, shipboard and submarine systems
applications. Specifically, information is requested to be documented
and disseminated in an expert system engineering tool, the Computer
Resources Information Base (CRIB), which is designed to assist those in
a variety of positions - from acquisition and program managers to
design, system, and integration engineers to procurement specialists
and support personnel - from both the public and private sectors. To
date, COSIP has solicited information requests and follow-on
procurement for integration or individual hardware and software
computer resources into a family of Open System Display and data
handling systems. Organizations interested in providing information in
response to this request should download questionaires (included in
these questionaires is technical documentation, specifications,
software drivers available, Bus architecture, benchmarks, standards
compliance, product support, environmental information, pricing and a
POC (phone number and FAX number for follow-up research) via Internet
anonymous ftp site (Binary Mode): cosiptac.nswc.navy.mil (directory:
crib) or bulletin board number (703) 663-5279. A questionaire should be
completed for each computer resource model/part # which you wish to
have included and returned either by uploading to the anonymous ftp
site (Binary mode); directory: crib/completed-questionaires) or BBS or

Center, 17320 Dahlgren Road, Dahlgren, Virginia 22448-5100, Attn: Scott
Shahan, Code B32. It is requested that responses to this solicitation
for information be provided not later than 30 days after the date of
this announcement. This announcement is not a request for proposals,
