A -- RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DUE 043095 POC Norma E. Logue, 601-634-3076 Notice of intent to issue a sole source contract to Caulfield Engineering, Oroville, WA, for engineering and field services in connection with R&D activities in support of the USAE Waterways Experiment Acoustic Impedance Survey System Technology development. The following services are required: a. system operation; Quality Assurance procedures, b. field calibration and quality monitoring; engineering analysis; and electronic troubleshooting. Contractor must have the ability to estimate the material density of standard marine sediments and to provide the acoustic impedance of polluted sediments. The Acoustic Core System, patented by Caulfield Engineering, allows for the micro- examination of acoustic responses for the classification of gross sediment structures. The contract will be written for one year with the option of the Government to renew for an additional fouryears. If no other sources are found, the Government intends to award a contract to Caulfield Engineering under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1). See numbered Note 22. (0102)
