59 -- ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT COMPONENTS SOL DATM01-95-R-0021 due 042895. Contact Shirley Hayes, Contract Specialist, (817) 288-9578 or Theodore H. Panknin, (817) 288-9565. This synopsis amends the previous synopsis published 16 Dec 94, for 12 each broadband, linear, solid state amplifiers. The solicitation number has been changed from DATM01-95-R-0007 to DATM01-95-R-0021. The specifications have been changed in the following areas: The frequency range is changed from of 20 - 500 MHz to 20 - 1000 MHZ, with minimum output power of 100 watts. The small signal gainflatness is changed from +-1dB to +-2dB. The weight is changed from 70 pounds maximum to 100 pounds maximum. The maximum height is changed from 8 inches to 12 inches. All other previous published specifications will remain the same as outlined below. The Automated Intelligence/Electronic Warfare Test System (AI/EWTS) provides target threat communications signals for the testing of U.S. Intelligence and Electronic Warfare systems. The amplifiers will be the final amplification stage for transmitting digital and analog signal modulations. The contractor shall not provide racks, any of the signal sources mentioned below, nor do any installation. Each amplifer will be installed in an equipment rack in an air conditioned step van typically powered by an onboard generator. The step van will be driven over graded roads, at altitudes of up to 10,000 feet, incold and hot climates, and relative humidity of up to 95%. The types of signals to be transmitted would include narrow (less than 10 microsecond (us)) pulses, swept (greater than 0.1 MHz/us) signals, and 100% duty cycle broad bandwidth (greater than 10 MHz) noise (by frequency modulation) at full power. The driving signal source will typcially be leveled (0 dBm), cannot exceed +13 dBm, and might jump in frequency rapidly (i.e., jump from 20 MHz where the amplifier was at full power, change to 100 MHz and turn on to full power in about 5 us). The typical load it can be expected to operate into is a VHF log periodic antenna whose Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) is 1.2:1 at midband but whose VSWR might exceed 8.0:1 at band edges. It is required that if a high VSWR (greater than 9.0:1) is encountered, the amplifier not trip and need resetting but remain operated (at reduced forward power). In the event the RF output is accidently open or shorted, and primary power and drive applied, no damage shall result to the amplifier; The Government's requirements are: Amplifier Power supply(s) All interconnecting cables required for operation. Operation/maintenance manual(s). Schematics and parts list for electronic maintenance. Any special tools (such as extender boards or special cables) for maintenance. Rack mount hardware. Plan for factory test. Factory test results. All solid state construction in accordance with best commercial practice. The unit shall incorporate connectorized modules for field maintenance and repair of the amplifier; Mode of Operation: Class A or AB linear; Temperature Range: 0 degree to 50 degree C ambient operating, -20 degree to 60 degree C storage. Frequency Range: 20 to 1000 MHz, 480 MHz instantaneous bandwidth. Output Power: 100 watts minimum into a 1.2:1 VSWR load at any frequency within the operating frequency range. Gain: 50 dB minimum, it is desirable to reach full power with 0 dBm drive; Small Signal Gain Flatness: +-2 dB; Input Protection: +13 dBm with no damage; Input/Output Impedance: 50 OHMS nominal; Input VSWR: 2.0:1 maximum; Non-Damage Loading; Shall operate into any load (including open and short) without damage; Operating Load: At least 9.0:1 VSWR without trip (only the output power is reduced) Harmonics at rated Output: -20 dBc (2nd), -12 dBc (3rd); Dynamic Range: 50 dB minimum; Spurious Signals at Rated Output: -60 dBc; Primary Power: 110 to 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz, single phase; Indicators: Power on, Thermal Overload, VSWR, Fault; Output Protection: Thermal overload, load VSWR, input overdrive, overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent; Cooling, Air, Connectors: Type N female RF out, Type N female RF in. All connectors mounted at chassis rear; Rack Slides: Provide for each amplifier Handles: Provided for each amplifier; AC Power Cable: Separate cord, 4 foot minimum with standard IEC 320 power line connector into the amplifier; Weight: 100 pounds maximum; Size Overall: Fits standard 19 inch equipment rack, 27 inch depth, 12-inch height maximum; Output Pulse Rise Time to Rated Peak Power: 2 uS max; Output Pulse Fall Time From Rated Output Power to Cutoff; 1 uS ma; Swept Output at Rated Power: Carrier input shall be swept from 20.0 to 500.0 MHz in no more than 4800 uS and at a constant 9 dBm level. The output shall not be less than rated power over the specified frequency range except at band edges. When swept at a much slower rate (48 seconds over 480 MHz) no oscillations shall be observed under any load. Delivery to Fort Huachuca, Arizona. A request for a copy of the solicitation and amendments shall be done by facsimile, (817) 288-9522 or by mail. The Standard Industrial Code is 3663. See Note 1. (101)
