Sources are being sought to provide a 2 dimensional bar code reader to be installed in USPS letter mail automation equipment for a proof of concept test and possible nationwide procurement. The reader must be physically capable of being mounted within current letter mail sorting equipment and reading 2 dimensional codes printed on mailpieces moving past the reader at a lineal rate of travel approximately 120-180 inches/second. Additionally, the 2 dimensional code to be verified should contain at least 120 characters, allow for error recovery, redundancy and require no more space than 1 3/8'' square. Additionally, the code to be read should also be printable using industry standard printing techniques requiring no more than 300 DPI resolution.
