Contact:LISA REA, Tel:713-483-8395 Contracting Officer: LISA REA, Tel:713-483-8395 The Johnson Space Center will host an open forum for organizations with expertise in the area of extravehicular activity and related technologies The purpose of the forum will be to discuss overall system attributes, technology development and procurement strategy for the development of a future external work system. This work system will make possible a dramatic increase in the efficiency and effectiveness of external operations, using a complementary suite of humans, machines and tools. The development of this future system will be accomplished through a series of X-projects whose aim is to develop key technologies and then to test practical solutions on orbit. These projects will be accomplished through a government, industry, and academia team, performing an initial on-orbit demonstration by 1998.
