Standards and Technology (NIST) Precision Machine Research Facility has
a requirement for a high stiffness 3 or 4 axis CNC Machine Tool for
research and development in superabrasive machining. Specifically the
machine shall be compatible with both high surface speed (e.g. up to
8,000 surface meters per minute) and conventional grinding using cubic
boron nitride or diamond wheels on both netallic and ceramic
materials. NIST wishes to use both oil based and aqueous grinding
coolants. The work volume of the machine shall not be smaller than 46
x 31 x 31 cm. Further specifications shall be available in the
solicitation--FOB Destination Gaithersburg, MD--desired delivery 90
days after contract award, required delivery 120 days after award--All
qualified sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by
