Specifically the machine shall be compatible with both high surface speed (e.g. up to 8,000 surface meters per minute) and conventional grinding using cubic boron nitride or diamond wheels on both netallic and ceramic materials. NIST wishes to use both oil based and aqueous grinding coolants. The work volume of the machine shall not be smaller than 46 x 31 x 31 cm.
