A -- FABRICATION OF CARBON-PHENOLIC COMPOSITE MATERIALS SOL N60921-95-R-0023 POC MONICA WHITE OR GLORIA POTOCEK, Contract Negotiator, (301) 394-3770, Contracting Officer, CELESTE M KERNER, Code S21. The NSWCWODET intends to negotiate with BP Chemicals (Hitco) Inc., on a sole source basis, to contract for the fabrication of carbon- phenolic composite materials for reentry vehicle heatshield applications. Carbon-phenolic materials shall be fabricated using rayon and several low-conductivity pitch and PAN fibers. Each material shall be fabricated using bias-ply tape-wrapped construction, from resin pre-pregged fabric. Each material shall be fabricated in both warp-aligned and 20 degree shingle layups, and may take the form of panels, cylinders, and frusta. For the purpose of extending the existing material property database, material fabrication and processing cycles must be identical to those utilized by Hitco on past efforts. This contract effort shall be for a thirty-six (36) month period. All requests for solicitation N60921-95-R-0023, must be in writing and received by this Agency no later than 3 May 1995. All responsible sources may submit a request which shall be considered by this Agency. See Notes 22 and 25. (0104)
