COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 18,1995 PSA#1327POLYMER DEGRADATION MODELING As part of the US Government emphasis on
transferring national laboratory developed technology, Sandia National
Laboratories seeks industrial partners in further developing this
technology. Sandia National Laboratories is developing a suite of
computational methods for modeling polymeric materials and the
interfaces of polymers with other materials. One of Sandia's primary
goals is to gain a greater understanding of the chemistry of polymer
degradation and materials failure. Problems of interest include
oxidation of bulk polymers, with a resultant change in mechanical
properties; slow chemical changes at polymer/metal interfaces; and
crack propagation in polymeric fibers. The techniques being developed
will draw on Sandia's extensive computational and experimental
background in this area. We are soliciting industrial partners to
jointly develop and test these methods. We are especially interested in
partnering with companies having experience in materials
characterization that can complement our in-house capabilities. Sandia
is committed to developing industrial partnerships through a number of
mechanisms including licensing of intellectual property, cooperative
research and development agreements (CRADA's) and small business
assistance programs. Industrial partners interested in more information
regarding this technology should send a written request to Ms. Kay
Carter at Sandia National Laboratories, P.O. Box 5800, MS 1380,
Albuquerque, NM 87185. Fax (505) 271-7867. For technical information
please contact Dr. Richard Judson, Sandia National Laboratories, P.O.
Box 969 MS 9214, Livermore, CA 94551-0969. Phone (510) 294-1438.
Deadline for responses is May 1, 1995. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0451 19950417\SP-0002.MSC)
