70 -- COMPOSER COMMUNICATION NURSE CALL SYSTEM SOL 603-66-95 DUE 060595 POC Contact Point, Holly Meyerhoffer, (502)894-6114 The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, 800 Zorn Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky, intends to contract for the purchase of brand name or equal to the Hill-Rom Composer Communication Nurse Call System. In accordance with FAR 6.302, the VA intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Hill-Rom, Hwy 46 East, Batesville, IN 47006. The system must consist of a PBX or Digial Cross Point (DCP) switch which permits each of the audio stations to perform as a telephone, enabling any audio station to place and answer calls. Each station has its own separate audio channel. A standard feature of the system is a star configured network utilizing category V wiring which is capatible with and would allow the nurse call system to be incorporated into the facility wide wiring system. The system must be a totally integrated system with automatic and specific integrated locating system which operates on the same eight conductor, category V, cabling network as the audio and call system. This ability for the central processing computer to perform these multiple functions simultaneously is only possible on a multi-tasking platform. The system must be a 100% hands free speaker system which means no ''push to talk'' button. Offerors may submit information on comparable products. Comparable products will only be considered if clear and concise documentation is furnished. No solicitation document exists, therefore, requests for bid packages will be considered invalid responses. If no information is received within 45 days after this publication, a contract shall be awarded to Hill-Rom Corporation. (0107)
