the NASA Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center intends to purchase a Data
Acquisition Software (DAS) package for Structure Static Loads Testing.
The system is required to acquire data from strain, pressure, load,
termperature, and deflection sensing transducers as a minimum. This DAS
package must be fully compatible with an existing hardware system and
meet the requirements that define the system. The company and personnel
proposing to supply the DAS must have successfully completed a similar
product in the past and must supply a reference list of customers for
these products. The company must be able to provide a product that
meets the requirements by June 1996. A demonstration of existing
software will be required. The requirements in the forthcoming
Statement of Work will address hardware compatibility, software
functionality, and performance requirements. The existing hardware will
be available to the software developer for software developement and
functional checkout. The DAS shall run in a Unix operating system
environment on an existing hardware system. The 512 channel hardware
system consists of a Hewlett Packard (HP) ''C'' size VXI mainframe
(E1401A) with eight 64 channel multiplexor cards (E1413A), one 16
channel Form C switch card (E1364A), and a MXI data bus (HP1482B); a HP
745i workstation with 64 megabyte (MB) of RAM, a MXI data bus interface
board, and a 500 MB resident and a one gigabyte external hard disk; a
HP 747i workstation with 128 MB of RAM and a 1 gigabyte hard disk; five
HP 700/RX x-terminals with 12 MB of RAM consisting of 2 MB base, 8 MB
expansion, and 2 MB video. The system is configured such that the HP
745i is connected to the VXI mainframe via a MXI data bus. The HP 747i
is connected to the HP 745i through a HP ThinLAN connection and a
serial port, the five HP 700/RX x-terminals are connected to the HP
747i via a LAN connection, and a HP RuggidWriter printer and two
LaserJet printers are available for use with the HP 747i and HP 745i
CPUs. Available software is HP/UX version 9 for both CPUs HP SICL for
VXI control, LAN 9000 and C/ANSI C work package. The DAS shall perform
the following functions: 1) receive all test data from the VXI
mainframe via a MXi data bus and store all test data to a 1 gigabyte
hard disk on the HP 745i; 2) perform all warning and limit checking on
the HP 745i; 3) transfer data to the HP 747i workstation for data
display during testing; 4) perform all pretest run configuration data
(RCD) file buildup functions and perform all pretest calibration
functions with the VXI mainframe; 5) display data received from the HP
745i on up to 5 x-terminals during test; & 6) perform post test report
quality processing of test data plots in the form of plots and tabular
data. The 5 x-terminals will be served by the HP 747i and are required
to display any one of ten predifined data tables displaying up to a
minimum of 56 channels each and any one of ten predefined data plots
displaying up to 6 channels each. Data display updates to all terminals
shall occur within one second for all data being displayed. The DAS
will be required to obtain data from the VXI at rates of 0.1, 1 and 10
samples per second for each data channel up to the maximum of 512
channels. The DAS must perform error trapping to prevent the system
from crashing due to soft ware and human operator errors. A one-year
time period is anticipated for full completion of the project from date
of award. System performance is of major concern as the DAS will be
used to acquire flight certification data for NASA space hardware
components and systems. Therefore, the DAS shall be programmed using a
language that allows all source codes to be compiled and linked prior
to the system being used. No part of the DAS shall have to be
recompiled or interpreted for each new test or during test. The source
code must be readable, documented, and verifiable for quality
assurance purposes. This synopsis is released in conjunction with the
sources sought synopsis released Jan 17, 1995. It is the intention of
the Government to use the MIDRANGE Best Value Sought Procurement
(Evaluation criteria and price). Interested parties should respond to
