OPERATIONS Contact Point, Kurt E. Fidino. Antartic Support Associates
(ASA) under contract with the National Science Foundation is seeking
sources interested in providing Air Traffic Control (ATC) services in
support of the United States Antartic Program (USAP) during the austral
summer at McMurdo Station and South Pole Station, Antarctica. The
austral summer period of performance is approximately 1 October through
28 February. A few flights shall be scheduled during the month of
August in preparation for the austral summer season. The Air Traffic
Controller shall provide Instrument Flight Rules, ATC services to the
USAP fixed-wing aircraft, coordination of search and rescue operations,
and flight following of helicopter movement in and aroung McMurdo
Station, Antarctica. All ATC activities shall be available for
continuous service 24 hours per day, seven days per week during the
summer season except the control tower, which is normally closed on
Sundays. Day shifts shall be scheduled, and night shifts shall be on an
as required basis in order to meet USAP flight schedules. The ATC
services for the USAP are critical to the safety of people traveling
and working in the Antarctic, as well as protecting USAP property and
