--the machine Must have at least 18 channels for transmission of the radiation source; --each channel of the radiation source Must have a number of dwell points to enable treatment the number of dwell points shall correspond to the size of the radiation source detailed data are required regarding the size of the radiation source and the number of corresponding dwell points; --maximum range of radiation source should be not less than 130CM; -- distance between radiation source dwell points Must be variable the distance between the dwell points Must be specified; preference will be given to equipment with maximum variability in distances; --accuracy in targeting the radiation source Must be about lmm; --the machine Must be equipped with a radiation protection system to prevent radiation dose rate exceeding 2 5 micro sievert/hr at a distance of lm from the machine (when the radiation source is inside the exchange of the radiation source (once every three months) preference will be given to a machine with an exchange Procedure that is largely automatic in order to avoid exposure to the staff the Manufacturer Must give assurances that the first four exchanges of the radiation source are performed by his representative and on his account the total Cost involved in the exchange of the radiation source over a period of five years as of the second year Must be specified; -- five-year warranty for all parts of the radiation source guiding tubes to ensure accurate and proper functioning listing of connectors of all types and locking parts of the tubes is to be attached; --the radiation source guiding tubes Must have the ability to bend at a mimimum radius of 15MM without affecting the transmission of the radiation source, --the machine will have a computerized system for planning and treatment with the following abilities -automatic correction for the decay of the radiation source; -shielding radiation calculation; -direct transmittal of data from the planning station to the operation and control station of the machine; -registration of all the treatment data and the results of the calculations; --s a F e T y -the machine Must have a doubling timer system; -the machine Must have an additional control system to enable the treatment according to the original plan; -the machine Must have a self-testing system to include -battery-backup -doubling timer system -computer control system -internal electric interconnectors -range limit sensors -the machine Must comply with international safety standards such as fda or a parallel objective Institution the Manufacturer Must Specify the standard with which the machine complies and provide appropriate documentation; -the Manufacturer Must supply an external radiation testing system independent of the treatment machine, to be positioned in the treatment room; --preference will be given to a machine with the ability for upgrading to a pulse treatment mode the Manufacturer Must Specify this ability and its costs in detail; --a P P L I C a T 0 R s the applicators shall be suitable for the following usages -intracavelary treatment -interstitial treatment -intraluminal treatment - surface treatment --preference will be given to a machine with a wide range of applicators; --the machine Must have all the necessary accessories for proper functioning, such as -storage containers to exchange a radiation source with 2 channels - storage C upboard for the guiding tubes -dosimetry system including proper phantom -accessories for cessation and support of the guiding tubes and applicators -emergency container for the storage of the radiation source --the Manufacturer Must provide details regarding the disposable accesories supplied with the machine and their Cost; --the machine Must be suitable for a one-phase 230V, 50HV Power supply in case the Power supply is three- phased this should be clearly stated; --the Manufacturer Must have a known local agent able to provide technical support and know-how, service and spareparts according to the professional standards; --T R a I N I N G assurances Must be given for training of hospital staff at the Manufacturer's production facility, as follows -to two physicists - for planning of treatment -to two operating technicians - for operation of machine -to two technicians - for service and maintenance (at the same level as the course given to Manufacturer's service technicians) --the system Must be supplied with two operating manuals and two service manuals; -- W a R R a N T y 24 month-warranty period for the machine after completion of a 6 month-running-in period from the date the equipment is installed in the hospital if during the running-in period faults are found in the machine that prevent its proper functioning, the running-in period will be prolonged by the number of days the machine was not functional the Manufacturer, through his local agent, Must give written assurances that the the machine will not be disfunctional for more than 96 hours the Manufacturer Must also assure immediate response to calls for repair;
