Z -- UPGRADE/REPAIR EXISTING MEMBRANE ROOF AT CG AIRSTA SITKA, AK SOL DTCG87-95-B-643048 DUE 060995 POC Rebecca B. Wade; (907)463-2418 Provide all materials, equipment, transportation, incidentials, as-builts, and perform labor to upgrade/repair components of the single membrane roof system at USCG Air Station Sitka, Alaska. Present system utilizes a mechanically fastened single ply roofing membrane Chlorosufonated polyethylene (Hypalon). Work includes, but is not limited to: installation of totally adhered sections of roof, and additional rows of fasteners as indicated on drawing and removal of expansion joints on roof A, one section of roof C and one section of Roof B as indicated on the drawings. The built up roof below these expansion joints contains 75-80% chrysotile asbestos. Contractor shall abide by all local, state and federal regulations when working with and disposing of these materials. Contractor shall temporarily remove and reinstall approximately 454 lineal feet of 4'' X 6'' treated timber from Roof A which is used for equipment mounting. Contractor must be fully qualified and certified by manufacturer of Hypalon (CSPE) roofing membrane. Estimated cost range is between $100,000 and $250,000. The time for completion is 90 calendar days after receipt of award. All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the U. S. Coast Guard. Requests for bid documents must be submitted and received by this office no later than 08 May 1995. For Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has a program to assist minority women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontractor at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guarantee of the bid bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide account receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
