14 -- PROTOTYPE RADOMES SOL N60921-94-R-4009 DUE 060595 POC Ms. Laura Rider, Code 3324, Contract Specialist, (301) 394-3780/ Contracting Officer, Renee Cairo-Iocco. The Carderock Division, White Oak Site, Naval Surface Warfare Center (CDWONSWC), requests bids for the competitive procurement of prototype radomes developed using a process developed by CDWONSWC, and the results of mechanical and electrical property tests on the prototypes and samples cut from them. Phosphate bonded silicon nitride can be prepared by combining silicon nitride powder, a ceramic oxide powder such as zirconia, and a phosphate chemical, followed by a low temperature firing. The processing details will be provided in the solicitation. Prototype radomes shall be prepared in two specific sizes: the Standard Missile Block IV, and a nominal 3/4 scale Standard Missile, which is the approximate size of the Army's PAC-3. The 3/4 scale radome prototypes have an overall length of 21'', an outer diameter at the base of 9'', and a shape of ogive, von Karman, conical frustrum, tangent ogive, or a combination of the above. The Standard Missile Block IV radome prototypes have an overall length of 26'' and an outer diameter at the base of 13.5''. Quantity: The base portion of the contract is for the development of one 3/4 scale prototype radome (which will be destroyed during testing) and its test results. There is one option for the development of a second 3/4 scale model prototype radome and its test results, and two separate options for the development of one Standard Missile Block IV radome prototype. Delivery of the test results are to be made six months after award of the contract. This acquisition may/does involve technology that has a military or space application. The only US contractors who may participate are those that are certified and registered with DLSC (1-800-352-3572) and have a legitimate business purpose. US contractors must submit a copy of their current, approved DD Form 2345 with their written request for this solicitation. The solicitation/data package will be mailed to the data custodian identified in block 3 of the DD Form 2345. The SIC code for development of prototype radomes is 3769. To be classified as a small business, the number of employees must be less than 1,000 employees.
