95-031 DUE 070195 POC Philip M. King, Contract Specialist,
(703)306-1246. The Division of Science Resources Studies (SRS) of the
National Science Foundation (NSF) requires support for the development
and maintenance of databases and automated systems containing both
statistical and non-statistical information characterizing the nation's
science and engineering enterprise and its activities. The primary
component of this support is the redesign and management of existing
databases and data access tolls developed under previous contracts. The
databases contain information from several sources (usually large-scale
statistical surveys) that have been merged into a common framework and
are accessible from microcomputer workstations. The systems are
primarily used for analysis and data validation. The redesign activity
is expected to include 1) re-engineering the current user interface to
employ a GUI (Windows) approach, 2) migrating existing systems to s
SUN/UNIX based platform which will operate as a database server with
links to the Internet and World Wide Web, and 3) updating existing
databases and supporting software to be consistent with the RDMS
architecture used by other SRS systems. Database development,
