Description of content: supplementary requirements for passenger
vessels built before 1 April 1976 in international service concerning:
examination of the stability, requirements for the minimum intact
stability. 7. Objective and rationale: the average age for the existing
ships is high and further there has been a change in the use of the
ships because of the increasing size and weight of the cars and trucks
used on board ferries, therefore it is necessary to investigate,
modernize and tighten up the stability of these ships. Further the
requirements concerning stability on passenger ships in international
voyages have been tightened up in the recent years. 8. Relevant
