Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL, Inc.) intends to purchase two (2) scalable PC LAN Network Servers, each to support a minimum of 400 concurrent diskless PC clients, booting from the Server in a windows environment. Each server must have 128 megabytes (MB) of dynamic error correcting memory expandable to 512 MB, and 15 gigabytes (GB) of disk capacity expandable to 180 GB. Each Server must be capable of supporting a minimum of four (4) CPUs and be ``Novell Certified.'' The Servers must support a 64-bit (minimum) system bus, with a minimum bus speed of 200 MB/s. Each Server's I/O subsystems must include a minimum of four (4) disk controllers, capable of upgrade to six (6) disk controllers, and one (1) FDDI dual attached interface adapter. Disk and disk controllers must be differential fast and wide SCSI-2, capable of 20 MB/sec data transfer rate. Each disk controller must be configured with no more than four (4) disks and support hot swappable disk replacement. Options will be included for: one (1) scalable PC LAN Network Server; up to thirty-eight (38) 75 GB formatted fast/wide differential SCSI-2 disk storage systems; up to three (3) 384 MB ECC Memory (60 nanoseconds (ns) or faster) in minimum increments of 64 MB Memory Units; up to three (3) Processor Central Processing Units (CPU) with a minimum of 100 MHz Pentium and 256KB cache memory (20 ns or faster); and preventive and corrective maintenance.
