70 -- MULTIPROTOCOL ROUTER POC Monica M. Yankle tel: (410) 966-0392 SSA is seeking contractors who can provide a router that can enable the consolidation of multiple protocols on a physical link. At a minimum, the router must support TCP/IP, SNA, BetBIOS, APPC/APPN, DECnet, IPX, AppleTalk, Banyan VINES, and XNS. The basic functions of the router must include the ability to route a wide variety of LAN protocols as well as the ability to transport Systems Network Architecture (SNA) and Network Basic Input/Output System (NetBIOS) traffic in a bridged or routed environment. The router must also support a wide variety of adapter features, including Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) and LAN/WAN combination adapters. (1) MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: The router must have at a minimum seven customer-configured adapter card slots, plus an eighth slot which will house the system card. The router must support the following adapter features: Two-Port Multi-Interface Serial Adapter; One-Port Token-Ring Network 16/4 Adapter; Four-Port Multi-Interface Serial Adapter; One-Port Ethernet Adapter; Two-Port Token-Ring Network 16/4 Adapter; Two-Port Ethernet Adapter; Multi-Interface Serial/Ethernet Combination Adapter; Four-Port SDLC Adapter, and an X.25 Adapter. Additionally, each of these adapters must have 1MB SRAM and 2MB DRAM. (2) THE SYSTEM CARD MUST INCLUDE: 36 MHz processor; 128K L2 Cache; Microchannel interface; Dram--16 megabytes (16MB) expandable to 32MB; Two serial asynchronous ports; One 3.5 inch 1.44MB diskette drive; One SCSI-1 port; and Three digit LED display. (3) The ROUTER MUST SUPPORT SSA's existing IBM Multiprotocol Network Program and all of the following features: SNA Enhancements (T2.1 Node Support of SDLC and SDLC slow polling performance improvements); Wide Area Network (WAN) IPXWAN Support, partially meshed frame relay support for IPX, and Dual link transmission group support). (4) DLSw, including DLSw Compression, Priority queuing of SNA and NetBIOS frames, and option to reduce NetBIOS frame size. (5) MAINTENANCE SUPPORT, including a non-disruptive staging of maintenance application, and the ability to apply, commit and reject PTFS/EPTFS when router is active in the network. (6) ROUTER MUST ALSO SUPPORT AS A MINIMUM the following: a) Bridging (Token-ring Network Bridge Program Emulation, Translation Bridging--Token-Ring to Ethernet, Ethernet to Token-Ring, Translational Bridging Dual Mode, Translational Bridging functional compatibility with the IBM 8209/8229; b) WAN Support for routing IPX over X.25 and partially meshed Frame Relay support for IP, AppleTalk; c) Routing Protocols--open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Area Filtering, providing control over advertised summary routes; d) Configuration Program Performance and Utilization; and e) Configuration Program support to run under OS/2 V2.1, APPN Network Management, Accounting for intermediate session, Operator Control functions--SNMP SET for Act/Deacft Ports--SNMP SET for Act/Deact Link Stations--SNMP, Deact Intermediate Session Routes, APPC problem determination, Session monitoring--ISR session monitoring--APPC session monitoring, APPN Class of Service (COS) files--Enables modification of Class of Service Files, and APPN Transmission Group (TG) Characteristics--Enables selection of TG characteristics. Contractors having the capability to provide such Router which meets the above-listed requirements are invited to submit complete details, including cost information. Interested schedule and non-schedule parties must respond to this notice within 15 calendar days from the date of this publication and reference MMY-95-008. All responses from responsible sources will be fully considered. As a result of analyzing responses to this synopsis, the contracting officer may determine that a solicitation will be issued. If a solicitation is issued, no additional synopsis will be issued. Any such solicitation will be issued to all firms that respond to this synopsis or otherwise request a copy of the solicitation. the Government does not intend to pay for information provided. Acknowledgement of receipt will not be issued, nor will respondents be notified of the results of the evaluation of the data received. (0117)
