AppleTalk, Banyan VINES, and XNS. The basic functions of the router
must include the ability to route a wide variety of LAN protocols as
well as the ability to transport Systems Network Architecture (SNA) and
Network Basic Input/Output System (NetBIOS) traffic in a bridged or
routed environment. The router must also support a wide variety of
adapter features, including Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network
(WAN) and LAN/WAN combination adapters. (1) MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: The
router must have at a minimum seven customer-configured adapter card
slots, plus an eighth slot which will house the system card. The router
must support the following adapter features: Two-Port Multi-Interface
Serial Adapter; One-Port Token-Ring Network 16/4 Adapter; Four-Port
Multi-Interface Serial Adapter; One-Port Ethernet Adapter; Two-Port
Token-Ring Network 16/4 Adapter; Two-Port Ethernet Adapter;
Multi-Interface Serial/Ethernet Combination Adapter; Four-Port SDLC
Adapter, and an X.25 Adapter. Additionally, each of these adapters must
have 1MB SRAM and 2MB DRAM. (2) THE SYSTEM CARD MUST INCLUDE: 36 MHz
processor; 128K L2 Cache; Microchannel interface; Dram--16 megabytes
(16MB) expandable to 32MB; Two serial asynchronous ports; One 3.5 inch
1.44MB diskette drive; One SCSI-1 port; and Three digit LED display.
(3) The ROUTER MUST SUPPORT SSA's existing IBM Multiprotocol Network
Program and all of the following features: SNA Enhancements (T2.1 Node
Support of SDLC and SDLC slow polling performance improvements); Wide
Area Network (WAN) IPXWAN Support, partially meshed frame relay
support for IPX, and Dual link transmission group support). (4) DLSw,
including DLSw Compression, Priority queuing of SNA and NetBIOS frames,
and option to reduce NetBIOS frame size. (5) MAINTENANCE SUPPORT,
including a non-disruptive staging of maintenance application, and the
ability to apply, commit and reject PTFS/EPTFS when router is active
in the network. (6) ROUTER MUST ALSO SUPPORT AS A MINIMUM the
following: a) Bridging (Token-ring Network Bridge Program Emulation,
Translation Bridging--Token-Ring to Ethernet, Ethernet to Token-Ring,
Translational Bridging Dual Mode, Translational Bridging functional
compatibility with the IBM 8209/8229; b) WAN Support for routing IPX
over X.25 and partially meshed Frame Relay support for IP, AppleTalk;
c) Routing Protocols--open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Area Filtering,
providing control over advertised summary routes; d) Configuration
Program Performance and Utilization; and e) Configuration Program
support to run under OS/2 V2.1, APPN Network Management, Accounting for
intermediate session, Operator Control functions--SNMP SET for
Act/Deacft Ports--SNMP SET for Act/Deact Link Stations--SNMP, Deact
Intermediate Session Routes, APPC problem determination, Session
monitoring--ISR session monitoring--APPC session monitoring, APPN Class
of Service (COS) files--Enables modification of Class of Service Files,
and APPN Transmission Group (TG) Characteristics--Enables selection of
TG characteristics. Contractors having the capability to provide such
Router which meets the above-listed requirements are invited to submit
