Specialist, (202) 366-9570 The objective of this procurement is to
develop a training module that results in less risky driving related
behaviors through improved perceptual skills and decision making by
young novice drivers. The module shall be designed to stand alone and
be easily integrated into other related driver education activities.
Procedures will be developed that will identify those facets of
perceptual skills and decision making that would be appropriate to
include in training for young novice drivers. Existing information and
data will be used from risk taking research, current driver education
programs, and other relevant sources to identify possible training
needs and approaches that address these training needs. In addition,
data will be collected from an adequate sample of young drivers to
identify and assess their perceptions, attitudes, and decision making
abilities relative to learning to drive safely, and to identify
training approaches that would enhance the learning. Draft training
procedures and support materials will be developed, limited pilot
testing of the training will be conducted, the procedures and materials
will be revised and finalized and relevant contract activities shall be
documented in a Final Report. A twenty-four (24) month performance
period is contemplated. Requests for this solicitation must be in
writing. The anticipated issue date of the solicitation is on or about
