Patricia Rollie, Contract Specialist, FAX 502/624-5869. The Camp
Memorial Blood Center, MEDDAC, Fort Knox, Kentucky expresses interest
in an automated optical disk based records archiving system. The system
shall archive information directly, automatically, and in exactly the
same form in which it was originally generated. Once archived, the
information shall not be alterable. The archiving system must utilize
technology capable of storing, retrieving, and reproducing documents
that are legally accepted as originals. The system shall be capable of
multi-tasking and simultaneous operation. The requirement is to be
able to perform major functions such as document searches, document
viewing, and document printing at the same time documents from a host
system are being received and archived. The system shall be capable of
operating in a network environment and to integrate the system into a
Novell network. The system shall contain multiport ethernet card with
software capable of supporting a maximum of five networked clients.
The system shall be capable of automatically capturing, indexing, and
storing documents. System shall support a totally unattended operation.
Data capture will be digital and direct. The system shall be capable of
capturing data concurrently from at least four different host systems
without special software conversion programs or software interfaces.
The host system will not have to reconfigure or convert the electronic
format of the outgoing data in order to be accepted by the system. The
data capture must be performed simultaneously with other archiving
functions and will not be dedicated to capture only. Indexing of data
will be automatic based on user defined criteria. The system shall be
able to configure as a pass through device or as a terminal device.
When configured as a pass through device, the system will capture data
transmitted by the host system and pass the data through without
modification or loss of speed. System shall be modular and scaleable,
capable of supporting multiple workstations and/or multiple optical
drives and/or multiple hard drives, as the needs require. The system
shall be capable of supporting scanning workstations, or the ability to
capture data from existing documents via optical scanners. The system
shall provide for keying, or indexing, of documents prior to archiving.
Data used to key or index the documents shall be entered either by
keyboard entry or through the use of Government furnished bar code
scanners. The system shall support all major printers including laser
printers, dot matrix printers and graphics printers----All interested
parties must respond no later than 24 May 1995 in writing or by FAX at
