Request for Proposal for five tactical high frequency (HF) antennas.
The intended primary use for these antennas will be to transmit and
receive short range HF groundwave communications signals. The systems
that will use the antennas are communications simulators with 250 watt
amplifiers. The systems are all mobile, thus the antennas will usually
be erected and stowed for each use. Some of the communications systems
to be simulated are frequency hopping radios therefore the antenna
must either be a broadband antenna or have a very fast matching unit.
The following represents the Governnment's minimum requirments:
Frequency Range: 2-30 MHz; Impedence: 50 ohms, VSWR: 2.5:1; Power
Handling: 250 watts min, 1 KW preferred; Input Connector: Type N;
Polarization: Vertical preferred; Directivity: Omni-directional,
groundwave preferred; Gain: -12dBi@ 2 Mhz, -2dBi @ 30 MHz perferred;
Size Stored: 63 x 24 x 12 inches maximum; Weight: 300 lbs maximum, 100
lbs preferred; Erection Time: 2 men 1 hour maximum, single man 1 hour
preferred; Wind Loading: 60 mph minimum; Temperature Range: +10
degrees to +120 degrees F ambient operating -20 degrees to +150 degrees
