Contracting Officer Notice of intent to purchase a Calera MM2400 Engine
with workstation to increase the throughput of the existing networked
Calera OCR configuration. The Department of Energy's (DOE's) Office of
Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) intends topurchase a
contract for a Calera MM2400 Engine or equal and workstation meeting
the following requirements: (1) Calera MM2400 Engine consisting of four
RISC processors, each with a speed of up to 600 characters per second
in converting images tomachine- readable form with capabilities of
accepting input in TIFF Uncompressed, TIFF Packbits, TIFF Modified
Group 3 (CCITT Group 3), TIFF Group 4 (CCITT Group 4), PCX, and DCX
formats, providing feature extraction with context and dictionary
analysis, readsno n-stylized fonts, such as typewritten, typeset, laser
print, draft dot=matrix and encompasses 6-28 point monospaced and
proportional spacing; decolumnization; processes tables, and columns;
handles zones, such as text, image and numeric; and processesla ndscape
and rotated pages; (2) Workstation with tower cabinet containing an
Energy-Star compliant 486 DX/66 MHz processor personal computer
including 16 megabytes of RAM with 70 nanoseconds cycle time or less,
256 K bytes of cache, two 1 gigabyte (min)S CSI-2 internal hard disk
drives with a seek time of 11 milliseconds or less, connected to 16-bit
Adaptec 1542 SCSI-2 board (Item 3), and a 17'' Energy-Star compliant
color noninterlaced monitor with .28mm or less dot pitch, and 1280 X
1024 lineresolution with a 2 megabyte Super VGA interface card,
Logitech mouse or equal, pad, WordPerfect for Windows 5.2, MS Windows
3.1, and MS DOS 6.22; (3) Adaptec 1542 SCSI-2 board kit or equal with
ASPI DOS driver for interfacing the Calera Engine (item 1) to theWor
kstation (Item 2); (4) Installation, Integration, Demonstration, and
Warranty including Seller supplied labor, parts, and support for
installation and integration of Items 1, 2, and 3 with a one-year
onsite warranty commencing after successfulinstallati on and
demonstration to Buyer. Buyer shall provide communications linkage to
existing systems. Firms interested in receiving a copy of the
