CNT F0160095R0024 The Headquarters Standard Systems Center Group (HQ
SSG) at Maxwell Air Force Base/Gunter Annex requests information to
search the industry's interest for an upgrade to their Network
Operating System (NOS). This upgrade must be compatible with HQ SSG's
current NOS (Novell Netware 3.11 & 3.12) and must provide a seamless
network allowing individual users to have transparent access to all
network resourcs. The upgrade must provide easier management and use,
increase network security, minimize network traffic, and provide
central configuration management and control while allowing for
flexibility in providing services to users. This upgrade must include
a site maintenance agreement for continuous support of the NOS. The
maintenace agreement must provide both technical support and future
upgrades. This agency also requires a Network Management System (NMS)
that is compatible with HQ SSG's current network operating system and
with the upgrade. The NMS must reduce downtime, increase efficiency of
the network workload, flag problem areas before they occur, and allow
management of the LAN proactively from a central location. The NMS
must simplify network administration, eliminate network overloads,
identify heavy network users, monitor network stations, immediately
identify network problems, provide remote control for desktops, provide
virus protection, and provide notification of configuration changes.
The NMS must also provide print queue management, management of
multiple servers at once, and provide inventory management. HQ SSG has
determined that Novell Netware Version 4.1 and Novell Netware
Maintenance Agreement will fulfill the agencies requirement for the NOS
upgrade and technical support; Novell Netware Managewise will fulfill
requirements for the NMS. No telephone requests for information will be
honored. The Standard Industrial Code No. 7373 applies to this
requirement. This agency wants to determine if there are any interested
and capable vendors to fulfill this requirement. Interested firms are
invited to submit literature, detailed information describing
capability, experience, past performance, and qualifications.
Acknowledgment of receipt of requested information will not be made;
however, sources deemed qualified will be considered for the future
solicitation. This is not a Request for Proposal and should not be
construed as a commitment by the Government. Prospective sources should
submit the required data with 15 days after this publication. Refer to
solicitation F01600-95-R0024. Firms not capable of meeting the
preceding requirements need not respond. (0121) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0376 19950502\70-0024.SOL)
