Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking sources capable of
providing a high-speed, single mode fiber optic infrastructure to
connect buildings in the SSA headquarters complex in Woodlawn,
Maryland. The fiber optic infrastructure must transmit data at speeds
of 2.4 GBPS or greater. The fiber optic backbone must handle current
high volume as well as future growth in LAN, data and video traffic and
must be robust enough, through alternative paths, to continue to give
satisfactory service in the event of a fiber link failure to one of the
buildings. Interested firms able to provide the required fiberoptic
backbone are invited to submit information in sufficient detail to
demonstrate their ability to provide the fiber optic infrastructure.
Cross-reference to previously submitted material is discouraged. No
cost or pricing data is required or requested. This is not a request
for proposals (RFP) and the Government does not intend to pay for
information submitted. Respondents will not be notified of the results
of the evaluation of the data received, but sources deemed qualified
will be solicited when an RFP is issued. Responses to this notice
should be submitted in duplicate within 15 days of the publication of
